Callum Hudson-Odoi: Bayer Leverkusen agree one-season loan deal for Chelsea winger | Transfer Center News

By on August 29, 2022 0

Bayer Leverkusen have agreed a season-long loan deal with Chelsea for winger Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Hudson-Odoi is expected to travel to Germany on Monday for a medical.

The move was in danger of falling apart 24 hours ago as Leverkusen wanted an option slotted into the deal, but Chelsea only wanted a direct loan. This will be the first time the striker has been loaned out by the club.

Talks continued into the night with Hudson-Odoi’s representative – his brother Bradley – able to convince Leverkusen to accept the deal on the terms Chelsea wanted.

Sky Sports News were told last week there was late interest from another German club – but the player’s preferred destination is Leverkusen.

Hudson-Odoi and his representatives listened to all offers and spoke to a number of clubs before deciding that Leverkusen presented the best option for his development.

As many as 20 clubs – in England and across Europe – were reportedly interested in signing Hudson-Odoi earlier this summer.

The striker has come through the youth ranks at Chelsea and has two years left on his current contract, scoring 16 goals in 126 appearances since making his first-team debut in 2018.

He came close to joining Borussia Dortmund on loan last summer – only to have Chelsea block the move on deadline day.

Fofana prepares for medical at Chelsea ahead of £70m move

Wesley Fofana is also close to a move to Chelsea

Wesley Fofana is due to undergo his medical at Chelsea on Monday ahead of a £70million move from Leicester.

Fofana is said to have flown to the United States for testing.

According Athleticism, it’s for new owner Toddy Boehly’s “peace of mind” following Fofana’s serious injury last season. He missed most of the campaign with a broken fibula.

Chelsea and Leicester reached a verbal agreement on Friday after a long saga over his valuation. Leicester had wanted more than the £80million they got from Manchester United for Harry Maguire.

This frustrated the player and he was sent off from the last two games against Chelsea and Southampton.

But Fofana is now set to sign a six-year contract as a Chelsea player and fulfill his dream of emulating Didier Drogba by playing for the club.
