GoFundMe created for hospitalized postal truck driver Wamego
TOPEKA, Kansas (WIBW) – A GoFundMe was set up to pay for travel and medical expenses as a Wamego man continues to recover in a Kansas City hospital following a three-car head-on collision.
Family member Sarah Fillinger says she started a GoFundMe to help pay medical bills for Shawn Adams and to help support his family as he recovers at a local hospital following a terrifying accident.
On Sunday August 21, Shawn was heading west on Highway 24 in his mail truck for work when a 2004 Toyota Highlander pulled over in the eastbound lane in an attempt to turn driven by Heather Kolde, 36 year-old, of Topeka, was rammed by a 2017 Ford Edge driven by 17-year-old Tristyn Boxberger, of Silver Lake.
This impact pushed the Highlander into the westbound lanes, where Shawn’s mail truck and SUV collided head-on. He was rushed to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka with suspected serious injuries while the other two drivers were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Fillinger said all the money raised will go to his sister, Audrey, who is also Shawn’s wife, and their three children to pay for trips from Wamego to Kansas City, hospital bills and more. needs they might encounter.
Fillinger noted that Shawn was the sole provider for their family as Audrey had recently given birth to their third child.
