Liano’s Javi Gomez had his best plus-minus game, helping Ibaraki to a 78-67 win over still shorthanded Shinshu in B.League’s 2021-22 season on Saturday at Wing Arena.

Gomez de Liano, who averaged just 2.5 points and 1.7 rebounds going into this game, had six points and six rebounds and had a plus-nine in the 14 minutes he played.

And the Robots got off to a good start in the competition that paved the way for them to break their three-game slippage and raise their record to 4-18.

With Eric Jacobsen in the lead, Ibaraki got off to a 23-11 start that crushed the Brave Warriors. Kohei Fukuzuwa and Marc Trasolini scored six each in the second frame which towed Ibaraki to a 42-24 lead at halftime.

It was all Ibaraki from there as the lead climbed to 22 points.

Jacobsen had 17 points and five rebounds for Ibaraki while Trasolini added 16 points and five rebounds. Chehales Tapscott had 14 points, five rebounds and five assists, while Fukuzawa had 11 points.

Shinshu is yet to win this month, suffering their eighth straight loss to fall to 9-13.

The Brave Warriors, who have fielded just 10 players in the contest, were led by Josh Hawkinson’s 28 points and 14 rebounds. Ko Kumagai added 13 points as Yuta Okada missed another game.

Matthew Aquino only played seven minutes into the game, going 0 of 2 on the pitch while grabbing two rebounds and registering a block.

The two teams face off again tomorrow.
