Kuwaitis’ monthly salaries increased by 113 KD in five years – ARAB TIMES
KUWAIT CITY, April 12: According to recent official statistics, the average gross monthly salary of Kuwaitis in the public and private labor market has increased by 113 KD per month over the past five years. The average monthly salary at the end of last year was 1,491 KD, compared to 1,378 KD per month five years ago, Al-Qabas daily reports.
A comparison prepared by the daily based on recent labor market statistics published by the Central Bureau of Statistics showed that the average monthly salary of Kuwaitis in the public sector during the five-year period from the end of 2016 to the end of 2021, increased by KD 82.
It was 1,457 KD per month in 2016 and increased to 1,539 KD per month in December 2021.
The figures show that the increase in the average monthly salary of Kuwaiti men in the public sector was more than double the increase in the average salaries of Kuwaiti women. The average salary increase for Kuwaiti men was 148 KD and that of Kuwaiti women was only 58 KD.
The average monthly salary of Kuwaiti men in the public sector is 1,874 KD and that of Kuwaiti women is 1,312 KD, at the end of 2021.
The statistics reveal that the average monthly salary of Kuwaiti employees in the private sector increased by around 188 KD during the above-mentioned period, from 1,067 KD to 1,255 KD per month at the end of 2021.
The share of Kuwaiti women in the increase in the private sector was good compared to the public sector. In five years, their wages have increased by an average of about 176 KD, bringing their average salary to 974 KD per month. On the other hand, the wages of Kuwaiti men in the private sector increased by 183 KD per month, bringing their average salary to 1,529 KD per month at the end of 2021.
